The Sheer Face design family is a group of conceptual designs that Spring City is working on in an attempt to expand into more modern product designs following the success of our custom design and construction for the recent Columbus Circle project.
The idea behind the Sheer Face family of products was to create a modular design that would utilize a few pieces in different configurations to achieve an array of different products that all share a visual appeal.
Currently, there are two proposed construction methods being discussed for these pieces. Firstly, employing our mastery of sand casting, the bollard pattern would have loose pieces that can be added or subtracted at the time of casting that would result in the optional rings (see below) on the bollard being integrally cast in the finished bollard. Secondly, a truly modular design that would consist of a cast cap and cast ring modules welded to custom lengths of pipe to achieve the variety of styles within the family. Regardless of the construction method, the goal of allowing the customer a choice in the design of their finished product by granting them an option of rings would be achieved.
The bollard design has been branched off to the cover the variety of installation methods regularly offered by Spring City; the direct burial style, internal anchor bolts and external anchor bolt installations. As well, located below are concepts for complimentary products in the same vein of design as the Sheer Face bollard; including a post, cross arm, wall bracket and even a luminaire.
