The Mansard luminaire is designed to have a visual appeal that no existing Spring City fixture has. The fixture’s stand out design feature is the appearance of a suspended globe on a standard post-top luminaire design. The conical roof spinning also adds a unique element to the overall look of the fixture.
Although even with these different elements there are traditional visual cues that lend the fixture to our more established post designs. The fluted upper and lower bands of the luminaire are reminiscent of the fluted look of the Borough and Washington/Villa posts. Plus, if the conical roof were too drastic, a more traditional domed spinning would be a definite option (see below).
Another benefit of this luminaire are that it utilizes the IP rated spinning assemblies created for the Columbia luminaire project, meaning this fixture shall be free from the common problems of suspended fixtures… water pooling in the globe, dust collecting within the globe and spinning as well as insects entering the globe assembly.
In addition, all the photometric assemblies have been tested and implemented in our other fixtures. The fixture would also expand our selection of Liteshield luminaries, as it would be available in Type III and Type V cut-off as well as accepting all lamp wattages.
The hinged rooftop ballast and lamp access eliminates the need to remove any part of the luminaire for routine relamping and ballast maintenance, in addition both the outer closer and the lamp compartment have tool-less closures.
