Custom Historical Replication Project

Located in Lansing, Michigan
Fixtures & Poles by Spring City

Historical lighting projects are always a delicate task. One must be mindful of the architectural details while also ensuring that the new lighting system is up to code and meets the needs of the modern day. This certainly applied to the Michigan State Capital project.

Spring City was able to craft historically identical new poles, wall brackets and luminaires along with new, custom-designed bollards. It all starts with coordination between the client and Spring City to collect reference materials, research, and in this particular instance, samples. The original wall bracket, pole, and luminaire were shipped to Spring City and were utilized to create historically identical 3D renderings for new tooling.

In addition to providing historical replication, Spring City had the opportunity to work closely with the Lighting Designer to create new custom bollard designs that complement the existing architecture and grounds. The combination of replicating the original while custom designing the new resulted in a beautiful, functional and historically accurate lighting solution.
